ACADEMICS EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / GRADING / HOMEWORK / HONOR ROLL / VALEDICTORIAN AND SALUTATORIAN GRADING Academic standards for our students are high. We believe that a Christian school should not only reach, but exceed the scholastic standards of public schools. Reporting systems are designed to give the student and the parent an indication of the progress being made. Students are graded on their own accomplishments, not in comparison with other students. Report cards are issued at the end of each nine-week period. Report cards will show the student's progress in each subject area or skill in numerical percentage form: Below 70% is failing. Student progress reports will be issued at the end of each three-week period. Students must pass all classes in order to participate in extra curricular activities. Eligibility for the beginning of the third quarter will be determined by the students' second quarter average in each class. All students in junior high and high school who have a grade below 70 on any progress report or report card must attend weekly tutorial classes until the grade is listed as passing on future grade reports. Although Cornerstone does not use letter grades, Cornerstone accepts the state of Texas standard of grading only for the purpose of transferring grades to other schools.
